BOBBY RIGGS MUSEUM
In 1988 Bobby Riggs (1918-1995) founded the "Bobby Riggs Tennis Museum Foundation" for medical research into prostate cancer. Robert Larimore Riggs was born in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles and was a resident of Leucadia when he passed away. He was a World #1 or co #1 in tennis for three years. He became famous later in life for playing the "Battle of the Sexes" match against Billie Jean King when he was 55 years old.The museum is located at the Bobby Riggs Tennis Club in Encinitas California and recounts his career awards and trophies. The museum also has some artifacts from the "Battle of the Sexes" match such as the outfits worn by Mr. Riggs and Ms. Billie Jean King.
